Samantha Loza

Owner

Sam is a mother of two living in Easton, Maryland. After the birth of her first child in 2020, she was struck by the lack of support available for women in her area during such a crucial time. The challenges she faced during that stressful and traumatic pregnancy, set against the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, became the driving force behind her vision to create The Village Maternal Holistic Wellness Center.

Reflecting on the much more positive experience she had with her second child, thanks to a team of incredible providers, Sam knew she wanted to offer that same level of support to other women. Many of those same providers will now be working out of The Village, bringing their compassionate care to the community and ensuring that women have access to the support they deserve during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

Sam is passionate about empowering women to make informed choices about their health and well-being. Through The Village, she aims to build a stronger, healthier community by providing resources that help mothers feel their best—from educational programs to exercise classes and holistic wellness services. Sam believes that when mothers are well-supported, their positive influence ripples through families and generations.

Successfully Nurtured Lactation

Hi I'm Melanie, a local IBCLC with over 18 years of experience helping mothers and babies achieve Successfully Nurtured breastfeeding relationships. I'm passionate about providing compassionate, evidence-based care to support you on your breastfeeding journey.

I understand that breastfeeding can be challenging, and I'm here to help you overcome any obstacles you may face. I've worked with mothers with a variety of breastfeeding challenges, including supply and latching difficulties, challenging medical conditions and special needs, expressing milk and introducing bottles or going back to breast, relactation and induced lactation, and I am always passionate about learning more ways to support lactation for each mother and baby.

I'm also a single widowed mother of three in a neurodiverse family, so I know firsthand the joys and challenges of motherhood and parenting in challenging times. I'm committed to creating a warm and welcoming environment where you can feel supported and empowered through any challenging situation.

I'm excited to meet you at The Village. Please feel free to schedule an appointment during pregnancy or after your little ones arrive.

Homebirth Midwife - Being and Born

Since 2007, I have supported families in hospitals, birth centers, and at home. Home birth called to me above all else, so I started academic midwifery study in 2010.

From 2012-2014, I apprenticed in various home birth practices. During that time, I also worked in our community to make Certified Professional Midwives a legal and licensed profession in Maryland and Delaware.

In 2015, I moved to El Paso, TX to complete clinical training at Maternidad La Luz - a nationally accredited midwifery school and the highest volume independent birth center in the United States. After I completed my training in 2016, I worked as the practice manager and home birth assistant with Kindred Hearts Community Midwifery in Dover, DE.

Midwifery stole my heart because it holds women and families at its center. The pregnant person (re)discovers their own way of birthing while the midwife holds space and skills to support them. The basic underlying principles of midwifery care are connection and respect.

Historically, from menarche through birthing years and on to menopause, midwives have been a woman’s primary care provider. A midwife is a guide, healer, mentor, and friend walking with you.

Lactation Consultant - Milk + Honey Lactation

Helping families feed their babies is my passion! After struggling with my own feeding journey, I was driven to change lactation support in Delaware. My goals as an IBCLC are to educate expecting families about breastfeeding, make care accessible, and overcome financial barriers by accepting insurance. Lack of access to lactation  care is a healthcare crisis. I am passionate about oral function, flange fitting, and helping working mothers succeed in breastfeeding.
